I'm stocking up on jello, ice cream and juice getting ready for our all inclusive resort stay, otherwise known as Phoenix Children's Hospital. Amelia will getting her tonsils and adenoids out on Tuesday morning, sometime after 6:30 am. Amelia tells me her unicorn Glow Pillow Pet will be getting her tonsils out as well, performed by Doc McStuffins.
Right now I'm doing pretty good. I keep thinking this will be like a mother and daughter date, except she'll be eating jello and I'll be sleeping on a pull out chair which reminds me of my own mother/daughter/surgery date.
Sitting in front of my students during my first year of teaching, gross stuff began leaking out of my ear. Next thing I knew I had a hole in my eardrum and the doctor wanted to patch it, involving minor surgery. Mom had taken me to the outpatient place to get the surgery done. Right as I'm about to get wheeled back, I remember my mom telling the doctor she was my sister. At that point, the meds were kicking in and it was really difficult to try to correct her, I was slurring "nooo, motherrr". It was so funny, we laughed about it for years afterwards- "sistas" as mom would say.
Although I doubt I can pass myself off as Amelia's sister, she is my mini-me. Tomorrow we will hang out, watch TV (she remembers Coleman had one in his room), put together foam puzzles, and open up some surprises I will put in her Dora rolly backpack.
I am hoping that this will be the end of Phoenix Children's visits for my kiddos for a very long time.
Other things Amelia's been up to...
Building a snowman...
and being a barbell for her daddy.
