Mother's Day has been good to me this year. I miss my mom but I also realized no amount of sadness will bring her back. So my choice is to be happy and enjoy my day!
Yesterday Amelia and I went to a Mother's Day Luncheon at church. Last year I couldn't bring myself to go- too many mother/daughters there. I had really forgotten about it but was able to move some things so we could go this year. I was excited to spend some quality time with Amelia- just the girls!
My mom would have loved the theme- Kitchen Memories. They had different vintage aprons and kitchen ware. Amelia learned how the mixer worked. For entertainment, they had dancers in beautiful costumes dance to different songs and my eyes filled with tears. I couldn't help thinking the empty seat next to me was for my mom and she was watching right along next to us.
Today I got to sleep in and drink yummy Cinnamon Bun flavored coffee. Jake made french toast and sausage! The kids and him have been busy making my gift.
I love it!
It was so thoughtful and sweet. On the side there is a verse from Proverbs 31:10, verses 26-39:
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
They have grown up quite a bit from when I created a photo gift for Jake. Amelia and I were home one day from the Philippines and she was around this age:
I also got a selfie with the kids...
and realized they are the reason for my first gray hair.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there. On my inspiration board next to my computer, I have a few photos of my mom there. She inspires me every day.
